About Family Priority Counseling and Psychiatric Services

Family Priority Counseling and Psychiatric Services provides counseling and psychiatric care for individuals and families in throughout Texas and surrounding communities . Our practice brings together therapy and medication management so clients can receive the level of support they need in one welcoming setting.

The name “Family Priority” reflects a belief that when one person struggles, the whole family feels it—and when one person heals, the whole family can grow stronger. Whether you come in alone, with a partner, or with your family, the focus is on helping you feel understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools for change.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide accessible, compassionate, and evidence‑based mental health care that honors each person’s story and strengthens the families and communities we serve. By offering both counseling and psychiatric services, we aim to reduce barriers to care, coordinate treatment, and walk alongside clients as they move toward stability, healing, and hope.

Why integrated counseling and psychiatry

Many people benefit from counseling alone, while others find that combining therapy with medication brings the best relief. At Family Priority Counseling and Psychiatric Services, counselor and prescriber work as a team—sharing information with your permission, aligning treatment goals, and helping you understand your options—so you do not have to navigate different providers on your own.

This integrated approach means you can discuss both therapy and medication questions in a coordinated way, adjust your plan as life changes, and focus on what matters most: feeling better and functioning more fully at home, at work, and in your relationships.

Who we serve

We work with adults, adolescents, couples, families, and veterans facing concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, life transitions, and the ongoing effects of military service and high‑stress environments. Services are available through in‑person appointments in Mesquite and, when appropriate, via telehealth for added flexibility.

If you are unsure whether counseling, medication, or both are right for you, you can start with a conversation. Together, we will help you decide on a starting point and adjust as your needs become clearer over time.
