Mentorship

Research has shown that mentorship has a positive impact, especially in relation to elements connected to personal, academic, and professional performance.

  • Disadvantaged youth who undergo mentorship have a 55% higher chance of enrolling in college than those who don’t have a mentor.
  • Mentored youth develop and maintain positive attitudes toward school, show better school attendance, and have an improved chance of enrolling in higher education.

Youth who go through mentoring gain positive role models with whom they can develop relationships based on trust, respect, and support. Through the provision of mentoring at Greater Expectations Advocacy, adolescence are given a guarantee that someone cares about them. They are assured that they have someone to go to for advice in dealing with life challenges. Best of all, with the positive direction provided by a mentor, our youth will realize that they have a say in everything and that they matter.
